Income Tax Assistance)

VITA

VITA offers free tax preparation to those of low- to moderate-income residing in Massachusetts. Certified volunteers help qualified individuals prepare basic tax returns. 


Valley Opportunity Council offers free electronic filing (e-file). Those who take advantage of the e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed on paper – and even faster if they elect to have their refunds deposited directly into their bank accounts.

  • Eligibility

    • Must reside in Massachusetts
    • Annual individual/family incomes up to $60,000
    • Those who are self-employed or have rental income are not eligible
    • Those who earned income or have received unemployment from out-of-state are not eligible for assistance
